Welcome to Abergele Pump Track. The Pump Track and Beginners Pump Track are suitable for bikes, scooters, skateboards, and rollerblades. The jump line is for advanced riders who are confident in their jumping ability. It is suitable for BMX and mountain bikes only. Use the rollers, berms, and jumps to test your skills. Start slowly, familiarise yourself with the tracks, and progress at your own pace before attempting larger jumps. This facility is not a playground. It is for use for adults, teens and children.

What is a pump track?

A pump track is a type of small, looping bike track made up of rollers (bumps), banked turns (berms), and features that allow riders to maintain speed without pedaling, by using a pumping motion.

Pump

Step 1

Step 1

Approach the roller standing up on the pedals in a relaxed, neutral position on the bike.

Step 2

Step 2

As your front wheel approaches roller, bend your elbows to absorb the upslope and keep your head up.

Step 3

Step 3

As your rear wheel approaches roller, absorb it with your knees, whilst keeping your hips level.

Step 4

Step 4

As your wheels reach the crest of the roller, push your wheels downwards with your arms and legs.

Step 5

Keep your upper body level and shoulders level throughout the movement to propel the bike forwards.

Jump

Step 1

Apprach jumps standing up out of your saddle. Keep your weight central, your pedals level and look ahead.

Step 2

As your bike approaches the transition, use your arms and legs to help direct the trajectory of your bike.

Step 3

Use your arms and hips to level out your bike whilst in the air.

Step 4

Point your front wheel downwards so that your bike is at the same angle as the landing.

Step 5

Absorb the landing with your arms and legs.
